Edward Williams provides an account of the opening in the 1836 Primitive Methodist magazine. It took place on January 4th 1835 when the preachers were J. Tims and J Edwards

  • It is interesting that this 1877 chapel, called Ebenezer (“Hitherto hath the Lord helped us”) is called church, not chapel. I believe the tendency to call their buildings churches, not chapels, arose from a growing desire to emulate bigger, older or wealthier denominations.

    I spoke once at this church, at a midweek meeting, on the Lord’s work among Albanians, on behalf of the Albanian Evangelical Mission.
