Tiller, Kate, 'The desert begins to blossom': Oxfordshire and Primitive Methodism, 1824-1860

Primitive Methodism first arrived in Oxfordshire in 1824. By 1932 it had established meeting places or chapels in at least 70 places in the county. Its spread and development, and the impact of the movement on communities is discussed in this study on the local history of religion.
