Cople Primitive Methodist

Cople is a village situated off the A603 between Sandy and Bedford.

 

The 1851 Ecclesiastical Census includes a return for a Primitive Methodist congregation meeting in a cottage at Cople. The return was made by John Simmonds Gostling, Local Preacher, George Street, Bedford. It states that there were ‘about’ 50 sittings. On Census day there was an evening service when the attendance was 53, whilst the the average congregation for the preceding 3 months had been 50.
