The first chapel opened in 1838 with 180 sittings.
It was replaced in 1862 with a new chapel on New Street (later the Broadway). The foundation stone was laid in the August by Mr Edis of Dogsthorpe, with the opening taking place on 24th September. The building contractors were Blood & Son of Crowland.
Circuits: Peterborough Primitive Methodist; and Peterborough Methodist post-union.
Became known as the Broadway Methodist after Methodist union in 1932.
On its closure in 1938, members amalgamated with those of the Reform Street (ex-Wesleyan) chapel.
The building, once occupied by the Royal British Legion (and still on Google Street View in 2011), is now (2024) a Community Hall.

My understanding is that planning permission has been sought to change the use of this building to that of a day care nursery. Locally, there has been concern about what will happen to the memorial stones set into wall facing Chapel Street. We have been assured that they will remain in some form, and won’t end up in a skip. As of today, 7/12/2023, no work has started on the building.
This building is being sold by the British Legion and is expected to be turned into a Fittneww Gym, although contracts ahve not yet been signed.
