Long, Edith Calvert (d1899)

Transcription of Obituary In the Christian Messenger

EDITH CALVERT LONG was the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Long, of Great Horton, Bradford. She was left an orphan at the age of three years, when she was received into the home and brought up under the care of the above-named. They not only attended well to her physical comfort and educational interests, but they were diligent in training her to walk in the footsteps of their Saviour. At the early age of 11 years she was consciously saved. She at once joined the Great Horton society, and from that time regularly attended class-meeting and paid her quarterage. She was early removed to the higher service of heaven. On January 13th, 1899, she triumphantly passed into the Everlasting Light where sickness, sorrow, pain, and death are felt and feared no more. The Rev. J. Wilkinson improved her death in an address to‘ the scholars on Sunday morning, January 22nd.
