Johnson, Elizabeth (1808-1860)
Elizabeth Johnson was born on 24 August 1808 in Shrewsbury.
Conversion and Ministry
Sarah Spittle missioned Shrewsbury in Jun 1824, followed in August 1824 by James Bonser. Elizabeth Johnson was amongst the first converts, and almost immediately, at the age of 16, became a travelling preacher. Her ministry took her to South Wales, Wrockwardine Wood, Preston, Ramsor, Darlaston and Burton-on-Trent. She ceased to travel when she married, but continued as a local preacher until her death.
Family
Elizabeth married William Brownhill (1806-1883) on 17 March 1828 at Dudley. William was a Blast Furnance Manager in 1851 and later became a land agent. He was a local preacher for 60 years. Elizabeth and William had 10 children.

Three of the sons, Rowland (1872/3), William (1891) and Theophilus (1893), became mayors of Walsall.
Elizabeth died on 15 November 1860 in Walsall.
