This picture of the Primitive Methodist Church at Forncett was on a postcard sent to my grandmother on 1st October 1925. The message reads ‘..Have sent you a view of our Chapel which was taken some time ago as you will notice the hedges are rather thick and high. Love to all, Marjorie.’ I have no idea who Marjorie was, but I guess that ‘some time ago’ only meant a few months.

Forncett lies between Diss and Norwich, but I do not know if any chapel is open there today.

It seems unusual that the Methodist Chapel on Long Stratton Road at Forncett End shown on early O.S. Maps does not have the word Primitive, yet read our previous posting and we now notice it briefly mentioned in history website we list.
Is or was Forncett End in St. Peter area or St. Mary.

On this O.S. Map surveyed 1882 published 1884 is the Methodist Chapel (Primitive) in area of St.Mary but at bottom of map view Forncett End :

  • I think I know of a married couple that may have attended here. Chellis & Maud Humphreys. I have her Primitive Methodist Hymnal. I’m unrelated but got it on Ebay I believe. She could’ve used it at this chapel. Thought I’d mention it.
