In 1972 this chapel, in the Stockton Circuit, was still open for worship but by 1988 it was lying derelict. In 2014 it has been renovated and converted into a house.

High Leven was a Wesleyan Methodist Association chapel, built in 1851 and in United Methodist Free Church hands until at least 1897 (it is marked as such on the OS 25″ map in 1892, but is not mentioned in the Free Methodist manual of 1898). There were no other chapels at either High or Low Leven in the Stockton Circuit.

The 1901 Primitive Methodist magazine (page 952) contains an account of the purchase of a new chapel at what it calls Leven, in the Stockton circuit. Is it this chapel?
It was purchased from the Free Methodists “who have found it inconvenient to work the place, and since the inauguration services there have been very good congregations.”
