Walker, John

Primitive Methodist Magazine 1908

Transcription of Magazine ‘Sketch’

The Glasgow Second Circuit is favoured with a first-rate steward. For the major part of our church history in Parkhead, Mr. Walker has worshipped and worked with us. From the “Wooden Kirk” days to the brighter “Stone age” he has been one of the pillars of the cause. His regular re-election to the Chancellorship indicates the place he holds in the esteem of his comrades in official life. He has several times represented the station at District meeting and has once been a delegate to Conference. He is a class leader and will travel far rather than miss the weekly meeting. His wife and family, all except the eldest son, who is in the ministry of American Methodism, are in fellowship with us. A kindly, humble man, Mr Walker probably values most his quarterly appointment as “Doorkeeper in the House of the Lord.”

I have not been able to identify John Walker in census returns. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
