Mission to hop-pickers, Kent

I came across this photograph in the Aldersgate Magazine for 1907. The van was stationed at Offham in Kent, as part of a mission to the hop-pickers. Hop picking was a big thing: Londoners used to come down for a ‘holiday’; my wife used to do hop-picking in her girlhood in Kent; and we had hops decorating the chapel at harvest thanksgiving when I was a minister in Kent.
