Marsh Benham Primitive Methodist chapel

The 1856 Primitive Methodist magazine contains an account by Samuel Turner of the opening of the Primitive Methodist chapel in Marsh Benham, in the Newbury circuit.

“On Sunday, September 14th, 1856, a neat, commodious chapel was opened for Divine worship. Mrs. Osmond and Mrs. Deacon preached on the occasion, when nearly 95. were realized, and two souls hopefully saved. When I entered this circuit fifteen months ago, the society here was broken up, and the preaching services were conducted in the open air. But untiring perseverance has been crowned with the Divine approval. A house for God’s praise has been erected, a church formed, and souls saved. The church is under great obligations to Mr. Vockins, for his liberality and efficient aid towards the erection.”
