Young, F.C.

Hong Kong and Quebec (Co. Durham)

I have posted on http://www.mywesleyanmethodists.org.uk/ a note and photograph about Rev. F. C. Young of Hong Kong. I do not know whether he was Primitive or Wesleyan. I was given a postcard, dated July 1930 and sent from Walthamstow to Quebec (County Durham), bearing a picture of him and his  infant son, with the message “Tell Mark Golightly, D.V. I will conduct evening service at my dear old Church at Quebec, on Sunday Aug. 3rd”. It is signed Willie. The postcard was sent to me because my family, in the 1870s, were Wesleyans in Quebec, but I have an idea the Golightly family were Primitive. I would be happy to pass the postcard on to any descendant or relative of Rev. F. C. Young. I may be contacted by email on davidmartinyoung@yahoo.co.uk.

  • Mark Golightly was married to my Grandfather’s sister Annie. My Grandfather was Ralph Elliot Hayson and they attended Clowes Primitive Methodist Church in Quebec. I have several documents , photos and newspaper cuttings.
Interesting article on Hannah Isobel Hayson on this site.

  • Dear David,  Union Church Hong Kong had a Rev F.C. Young who commenced serving in 1928 and died in 1930.  Union was the first church in HK (1844) so if this is he, he would have been Congregationalist or Presbyterian.

    Bill,

I would love to see the photographs from F.C. Young.
