Silver End, Primitive Methodist Chapel, Brierley Hill, West Mids
Four generations of my family ran a Pottery at Silver End, Brierley Hill, Staffordshire, now in West Midlands, which was begun by John Barnbrook born 1784. His wife was Esther Skidmore and they had a daughter Diana Catherine who married Thomas Meese, he was born 1811 and they had a daughter Esther Elizabeth who married John Jeavons born 1833. The Pottery was handed down through the females to their husbands up until then when it was taken over by Thomas, John and Esther’s son. John Jeavons was a lay preacher at the Methodist Church which was opposite his house and pottery in Silver Street, Silver End.

There is an interesting paper on an archaeological excavation of a pottery at Silver End undertaken by Birmingham University. Follow the link to read the document.
