Little is known about the history of Walford Heath Primitive Methodist Chapel. It was open for worship until 1999. By 2011 the chapel had been converted into a residential dwelling.

The inscription on the plaque reads:-

Primitive Methodist Chapel

Prepare to meet thy God

Amos Chap. 4 Ver 12

  • The 1897 Primitive Methodist magazine (page 155) reports the enlargement of the chapel at Walford Heath in the Hadnall station. All the cost had been raised, which was not always the case.

    “WALFORD HEATH. SALE OF WORK. Some time ago the friends in connection with the Primitive Methodist Chapel decided to get up a sale of work in order to clear off, if possible, the remaining debt of £35 left on the chapel. The sale was fixed for June 11 … The sale proved a very successful one, the sum realised being £31 9s. 8½d.”

    PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHAPEL. A very successful coffee supper and entertainment were held in this chapel on Wednesday … The trustees requiring about £6 to complete the purchase of a new organ … .”

    “WALFORD HEATH.
    Primitive Methodist Chapel. Some time ago the friends of the above place met together to consider the advisability of enlarging and renovating their chapel. Mr. T. Howells, contractor, Ruyton-xi-towns, undertook the work at a cost of £130, and Thursday, October 3, was the day fixed for the laying of the memorial stones … A short service was held in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. S. Evans, circuit minister, and the Rev. T. Morgan, Congregational minister, Ruyton-xi-towns. Then came the laying of the memorial stones … a number of friends also laid bricks … tea was provided in the chapel … The proceeds of the day amounted to £33.”
