“MUCH WENLOCK.
NEW PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHAPEL.
A new chapel was been erected lately near the Goods Railway station, at a cost of nearly £300. It is a neat building, and very suitable for the purpose intended. A tea-drinking was held on Monday evening last, when nearly 150 sat down to tea and plum cake. The tables were presided over by the Misses Bill, Bailess, Clare and Bennett; Mrs. G. Nicklin, Mrs. Lawson, Mrs. Smith &c. Mr. W. Perks, of Coalbrookdate, was called to the chair and was supported by Mr. Macleary, Rev. Mr. Jones, and Mr. J. Porter. Several speeches were delivered, and attentively listened to by the audience.”
The 1883 Primitive Methodist magazine (page 762) contains a note of preparations being made for the opening of a new Primitive Methodist schoolroom at Much Wenlock in the Madeley station..
