Jersey: Primitive Methodist Synod on Jersey 1914

Aquila Road Church

I have a photo of the Primitive Methodist Synod held at Aquila Road, Jersey in 1914.  I didn’t even know there were any Primitive Methodists on Jersey!  My grandfather (Rev Frank Davidson) is on the picture, so I think it must have been when he was minister in Petersfield or Basingstoke.  Perhaps the Channel Islands were part of the same District.

  • We had the full spectrum of Methodism on Jersey – Primitives, Wesleyans and Bible Christians, and moreover we had five circuits (three English-speaking, two French-speaking). Aquila Road chapel is currently up for sale.
