  • I’ve added a further picture of the chapel provided by Sue Latimer on the basis that she felt that we should have a picture of the chapel on a sunny day to complement our existing rainy day collection. The name Wesley House is legible.

  • The inscription over the door of this chapel is interesting. It is the only one I recall written partly in Latin: anno domini 1869 (in the year of the Lord 1869). It made me wonder about the evolution of the Connexion from its early days as a largely exuberant, excluded and despised working-class movement to one that could sport a Latin inscription over its door some sixty years later. The story of this society would make interesting reading.
