The laying of the foundation stone on October 12th 1859 for what he calls Welch End Primitive Methodist chapel is described by John Guest in the 1859 Primitive Methodist magazine. I take this to be the same chapel as the opening date is the same and he locates it in the Prees Green circuit; Prees Green is close by.The previous chapel was dilapidated, so they pulled it down, cleaned all the bricks and rebuilt on another part of their land.

Some money was raised by people laying a brick and making a public donation at the same time. These included W Penny, Master TP Higginson, Mrs Penny, T Powell, J Higginson, W Cureton, S Maddox, J Phillips, W Cotton, Miss M Parry, J Powell, G Allmark, J Thelwell, T Hall and Masters S & T Williams. Preachers at the event were Rev H Higginson and John Guest.

I've added details of the foundation stone laying for what was called Welch End chapel.  Can anyone confirm it is the same place as the evidence suggests?

Did they raise money by competitive donations?
