Editor’s Notes:
- See Ernest E Fisher who carried out a baptism here in 1905.
- Nathan Hale, the steward, tells us in the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious Worship that a dissenting chapel in Enford – Chisenbury held services on Census Sunday for 14 (morning), 48 (afternoon) and 51 (evening) worshippers. It was actually a dwelling house, erected around 1845.

I was living with my grandparents during ww2 and most Sundays I would be worshipping in this chapel with my family and friends. With the tortoise heater we were cosy in the winter. Preachers from the Andover Circuit came to take services – and sometimes we had younger folk as NCO’s from Tidworth would take our services. All the preachers would have tea – circulating round three of the village families – including my grandmother. I was in disgrace one week as I happily said while having tea that I liked having people to tea as we had real butter! So many memories are stirred from these pictures!
