Obituary

Greet Church on the Birmingham 5th Circuit, has sustained its heaviest wartime loss, in the death of Edward Blakemore, who was killed in action in France, about November 30th, 1917. Our hatred of was is greatly accentuated when it exacts such a toll as this, for our friend stood for a strong and sunny Christianity, a self-expending religion, a service varied, abounding and fruitful. This Mission Church owed much to his unflagging devotion – he had filled all its offices in turn and loved the work more than he loved his own life. The children loved their lover as they loved the sunshine, and all his coadjutors paid him homage. Wife, children and other relatives thought all the world of this, so winning personality. Rev. J. Pearce conducted a memorial service and placed him amongst the elite of heaven.
