Higher Kinnerton, Flintshire

This attractive village chapel was built in 1868. It is now a shop. Before I discovered from an old Ordnance Survey 25-inch map that it was Primitive Methodist, I went in and asked the lady serving in the shop what kind of church it had been, and she said she had no idea. This saddened me – that the knowledge and memory of Primitive Methodism in the village had faded away so completely.

  • When it was the village post office, the lady living nearby and managing the PO knew its history. But now we think of it as the former PO, missing that service as many of us do.
To those living in Hr Kinnerton, the village church is the nearby C/E on the Main Rd and Methodist options are in nearby villages.
Perhaps another generation will again take interest in history of buildings etc.
