The chapel, which accommodates 225, was opened in 1886 and closed at the end of August 2013. It was located on The Causeway, near the traffic lights.

The main chapel building appears on a Victorian town plan of Thorney from 1848, before the village was rebuilt, when it is said to have been part of the coal wharf for the village. It is by the Thorney River, which joins the Nene at the Dog in a Doublet, south of Thorney.
