The first Norton Subcourse Primitive Methodist chapel was opened in 1864. It was replaced in 1900 by the chapel in Keith Guyler's 1986 photograph.  The first chapel then became a house.

Immediately after the photograph, in April 1988 the 1900 chapel became the Rural Ecumenical Centre at a cost of £27,000.

It is still active as Norton Subcourse Methodist church in 2015.
