Sutton Primitive Methodist chapel

The Street Sutton NR12 9RF

The first Sutton Primitive Methodist chapel was opened in 1846 in Church Road.  A replacement chapel opened in 1899.

The 1899 chapel  is still in operation in 2015. The 1846 chapel still exists in residential use.

Comments about this page

  • The 1846 chapel is still there, on the eastern side of the village, now a private home. The datestone says it was ‘erected by the dedication of John and the late Sarah Durrant’. The name Durrant also appears on an 1882 foundation stone on the Hickling chapel.
