Fulstow Primitive Methodist chapel
Main Street Fulstow LN11 0XF
Fulstow Primitive Methodist chapel dates from 1836. It was the largest and longest lasting of the three Methodist chapels in the village, measuring 26′(w) x 36′(l) and high enough for a gallery. The opening celebrations took place on Thursday, Friday & Sunday 20, 21 & 23rd October. William Wombell tells us that the opening speakers were, on the Thursday Rev S Marston, on the Friday Mr. J Butcher, and on the Sunday Mr. E Brown & Wm Clowes. He also, more unusually, reports that the society experienced great kindness from Rev J Holt, vicar of the parish.
A Sunday school was added in 1886. It was still active at the time of Keith Guyler’s photograph in 1995 but closed in 2008.
