Crank Primitive Methodist Chapel Lancashire
Alder Lane: This chapel was built in 1857
The hamlet of Crank is situated on a hill overlooking the south west Lancashire plain. It is about four miles from Skelmersdale. The small chapel was erected by William Pendlebury. He is buried in the tiny graveyard to the left of the main door. There are three gravestones here two of which commemorate the Pendlebury family. The third is in memory of Joseph and Esther Spencer. Are they family members?
In 2016 the chapel is known as the Alder Lane Mission. Services are held every Sunday afternoon

Hi, I have just read an article from the St Helen’s newspaper that states that when work was carried out on the church the headstones were moved (I presume to the current location) but no remains were found.
Unfortunately the mission is now closed and has been sold.
In 2023 Crank Mission does not appear on the Find a Church map on the Methodist Church website at:
https://www.methodist.org.uk/about-us/connect/find-a-church/
