Walworth East Street Primitive Methodist chapel

Apsley Pellatt M.P. laid the foundation stone of East Street, Walworth Primitive Methodist chapel in the Walworth Branch of the Second London Circuit on October 13th 1855. In the 1855 Primitive Methodist magazine William Hall gives an account of the ceremony and reports what Mr Pellatt said. The speech was met with “enthusiastic cheering.”

The Rev. E. Bishop, of London first circuit, and the Rev. J. Burnet, of Camberwell, then addressed the meeting. In the evening a meeting was held in the Wesleyan Reform Chapel, Penton- street, when Mr. E. H. Rabbits presided and there were addresses from Rev. William Cook, Editor of the Methodist New Connexional Magazine, Rev. H. S. Seaborn (Independent), Mr. W. Lewis, T. Church, Mr. J. Staley, and William Hall.
