At Wrockwardine Wood the society used to meet in a house, but the owner was fined for allowing the meetings there.
A number of the societies feature large and rapidly growing Sunday Schools. At Marsden in the Burnley circuit the Sunday school started with over 200 scholars.
At Allendale Town in the Alston circuit all the stones used in the building were hewn and transported at no cost.
