Little Neston Primitive Methodist Chapel

Mellock Lane, Little Neston, CH64 4BN

An obituary notice in the Primitive Methodist magazine for 1858 has the following which relates to Little Neston Methodist Church.

‘Mary Jackson was born in Willaston in the year 1769 and died at Little Neston in the Chester Circuit 1858. The early part of her life was spent following the fashions of this world but it pleased the lord to send the Primitive Methodists to preach in the villages of this neighbourhood. My dear mother went to hear them and invited them to Little Neston which invitation they complied with. as society was raised of which she became a member and found peace to her soul’

The Chester George Street centenary booklet says the origin of the Little Neston society is 1819 though the present church was built in 1872.

If you would like to know more about Little Neston, there is a book in the Library at Englesea Brook to tell you.
