Stanford in the Vale Primitive Methodist chapel

Stanford in the Vale Primitive Methodist chapel was built on the corner of High Street with Marlborough Lane in 1888.  After Methodist Union in 1932 it was part of the Faringdon circuit and later in the Wantage circuit.  In 1939 it had 8 members.

The Stanford in the Vale Community Website tells us that the chapel closed in about 1969, being used in the early 1970’s as a storeroom for freezers and refrigerators.  It was then converted into a private home, which was occupied in 1981.

It is still a house on Street View in 2008 and 2011.
