Wheeler End Primitive Methodist chapel
Bolter End Lane HP14 3NE
“Wheeler End, High Wycombe Circuit. —
On Monday, June 24th, 1861, a numerous attendance of friends witnessed the interesting ceremony of laying the foundation stone of our intended new chapel at this place. The service commenced at three o’clock by singing and prayer, and after an address by Brother M. Wilson, T. Wheeler, Esq., on behalf of his brother, It. Wheeler, Esq., Mayor of Wycombe (who generously subscribed £10), proceeded to lay the stone in a very impressive manner. Tea was provided in the adjoining orchard, and a public meeting was afterwards held, addresses were delivered by several brethren. The Divine influence richly accompanied the exercises of the clay. The site of ground (GO feet by 25 feet), which is beautifully situated, is the gift of Sir G. H. Dashwood, M.P, who has duly signed its conveyance to the Connexion. M. T. Smith, Esq.,M.P., has also given us £5 5s., and many others have willingly contributed. We have already raised £40, being one-third of the cost.
Murray Wilson“
The chapel is marked on Ordnance Survey maps until at least 1982. On Google Street View in 2010 it has been converted into a house, although still retaining its engraved stone.
