I’m working on a DVD of images of Tarporley to compare and contrast old and new, in a follow up to our book ‘Then and Now’ published in 2000. In some instances I have a number of images from different eras and so the work will actually be ‘Then Now and in Between’.

I know the focus of this site is PM churches, so would welcome offers of pictures of such I can use from any village within 5 miles of Tarporley.

  • I’ve added the Return from Tarporley Primitive Methodist chapel in the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious Worship. Joseph Fleet, a shoemaker reports the attendances as 40 – 50 and that the chapel was built in 1846.
