Chacewater Primitive Methodist chapel

Marked as a Primitive Methodist Chapel on 1880 maps, this building sits at the bottom of Chacewater Hill as you come in from the Truro direction

Genuki also describes the building of a Primitive Methodist Chapel in Chacewater

It was probably built in 1830 and was certainly still in business in 1914. I suspect the congregation merged with the larger Wesleyan Chapel in Station Road.

It was converted to housing but now seems to be more of a storage facility

  • I’ve added the return from Chacewater Primitive Methodist chapel to the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious worship. It confirms the opening date as 1830 – and thriving congregations.
