The predecessor to the Newcastle Road Primitive Methodist chapel in Sunderland was in Hodgson’s Buildings. It was situated on what was then known as Wreath Quay Road and is now Millennium Way.
The Hodgson’s Building chapel grew from the first chapel, opened in 1840 inĀ Williamson’s Terrace. You can read more of the story here.
The chapel no longer exists – and neither, with the exception of one small part, does Hodgson’s Buildings. It would have been right next to the Stadium of Light.
