Lunehead Primitive Methodist Society

Lunehead came onto the Middleton in Teesdale plan in 1868.

The Teesdale Mercury details this society as centred upon the small and dispersed community around Grain o’ Beck, at Lunehead.

An active community had a brass band and choir.  So the fifth annual Sabbath Sunday School tea festival was held in May 1873? with over 100 present. Two sermons were preached on Sunday 11th – but where exactly is still to be determined. At the end of the tea it was reported that those who had gathered left having 6-8 miles to travel.
