The inscription over the door of this chapel is interesting. It is the only one I recall written partly in Latin: anno domini 1869 (in the year of the Lord 1869). It made me wonder about the evolution of the Connexion from its early days as a largely exuberant, excluded and despised working-class movement to one that could sport a Latin inscription over its door some sixty years later. The story of this society would make interesting reading.
