The 1891 Primitive Methodist magazine reports that Shireoaks Primitive Methodist society in the Staveley circuit had held services in a cottage for over thirty years because they found it impossible to obtain land. At last they managed to buy a site and in 1891 laid the memorial stones for a new chapel.
The chapel is still shown in use in 1961, but on Streetview in 2011 it has been converted to residential use as Bethel House.
