The 1867 registration of non-conformist chapels reports a Primitive Methodist chapel in Somercotes .
The 1897 Primitive Methodist magazine reports that the old and inconvenient chapel at Somercotes in the Alfreton Station is to be sold and a new chapel and schools erected. They had already obtained “an excellent site of land”. The chapel was actually built in 1898.
In the 1960s it was replaced by a smaller modern building which still exists, although no longer a chapel on Street View in 2021.
You can see a picture and read a little more on the Somercotes Local History website here.
