  • The 1851 Religious census returns are arranged by Registration District, and the problem is, that like Methodist Circuits, they did not always respect county boundaries. Royston Registration District covered parts of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and a bit of Essex.

  • It was collected and stored as part of the Hertfordshire Census which implies it was in Hertfordshire at the time.

  • David,
Thanks for pointing out this location error. Although the village is in Cambridgeshire, it was probably in a circuit where the main church was in Hertfordshire.

I have reassigned the page to the correct county.

  • This entry would appear to be in the wrong county. Litlington is in Cambridgeshire, not Hertfordshire.
