Waskerley Primitive Methodist chapel

A Primitive Methodist preaching place at Waskerley  is shown on the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious Worship. It is listed as a schoolroom, built in 1836 and a separate building. On Census Sunday, 20 scholars attended. The average congregation was 30 people and the return was submitted by Joseph Petty.

A Primitive Methodist chapel in Waskerley appears on Ordnance Survey maps between 1895 and 1919. Various sources date it o 1901. The Primitive Methodist Leader of 1922 tells us that ” An excellent concert was given at Waskerley on Wednesday by the Castlesides Choir, ably led by Mr. Rains and Mr. Davison as pianist.  A large number attended the supper that followed. “

In 2020 it is in use as a farm store.
