The return from the Primitive Methodist preaching place in Merriott in Powerstock parish to the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious worship was completed by Robert Vincent, the Circuit Steward. Where the society met had 45 free seats; on Census Sunday 20 people attended the afternoon service and 35 the evening one.
It did not have a Sunday School.
The 1901 Ordnance Survey map does not show a Primitive Methodist chapel in Merriott.
