The return from Billinge Primitive Methodist society to the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious Worship records that the society had been using a room in a dwelling house for preaching. The attendance in each of the morning, afternoon and evening services was 4o worshippers. There was no Sunday school.
The return was completed by local preacher John Dawson, of St Helens.
