The return from the Primitive Methodist society in Hurst Brook to the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious worship tells us that the society had used the same preaching room for about 23 years.. It accommodated 65 people and on Census Sunday 17 people attended in the afternoon ad 28 for the evening service.
The return was completed by Miles Dickenson, officiating Primitive Methodist minister of George Street, Hyde.
