The preaching place used by Parr Primitive Methodist society in March 1851 was the upper storey of a provision warehouse. It accommodated 100 people and in the year before the Census had congregations of 80 to 95 worshippers.
The return to the Census of places of Public Religious Worship was completed by James Boardman, the Steward, of Parr Stocks, near St Helens.
