The return from the Primitive Methodist society in Mells to the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious worship tells us that they were meeting in a preaching place, rather than a chapel. The building which was at least 50 years old held 50 people and on Census Sunday, 70 people attended the evening service and 50 in the morning.
The return was completed by the minister, Joseph Preston of Chapel Street, Frome.
There is no Primitive Methodist chapel I can find on Nineteenth Century Ordnance Survey maps.
