Skeness (Skegness?) Primitive Methodist chapel

Lincolnshire coast - but where on earth was it?

The 1856 Primitive Methodist magazine contains an account by W. Marwood of the establishment of what is called Skeness Primitive Methodist chapel in the Alford circuit. My problem is that I cannot find it referred to on maps – can you help? Or is it simply a transcription error for Skegness?

Our chapel at this place is situated amongst a scattered population, near the German Ocean, and has endured the sea breezes for about twenty years. The debt on it, when finished, was £50, which unhappily has not been lowered. Some of the trustees have died, others have removed from the place, and only one continued a member with us. The chapel had become dilapidated, and, unless something had been done to it, it would probably soon have fallen.

The few trustees that could be collected together, therefore, met, and determined to take a part of the chapel down and build it on a better foundation, and also to put in a boarded floor, etc. This has been accomplished, and to meet the expenditure various parts of the extensive parish were visited by Messrs. Talbot and Rudd, and donations promised.

On July 5th, 1856, a public tea-meeting was also held in a tent put up on the sea bank by the sons of Mr. John Green, aided by some members of the society. A large company took tea on the occasion, and a goodly sum of money was realized. On Sunday, July 10th, Miss S. Chantry preached two interesting sermons in the chapel, and good collections were made towards defraying the expenses incurred. To the friends who gratuitously provided the trays, and to all who have aided us in this undertaking, we wish to record our gratitude.
