The foundation stones for Branch Road Primitive Methodist chapel in the Blackburn First circuit were laid in 1890. The new chapel would replace a building described as small, badly lighted and inconvenient and was better suited to meet the needs of worship and education.
It would cost £2,000 of which they had raised half.
The current Branch Road is in south Blackburn off Bolton Road. I cannot find a chapel of any denomination on Branch Road on historic Ordnance Survey maps. Where was it and what happened to it?
That said, Lancashire Online Parish Clerk reports 6 Primitive Methodist chapels in Blackburn:-
- Eccles St Primitive Methodist
- Grimshaw Park Primitive Methodist
- Salisbury St Primitive Methodist
- Ebenezer Primitive Methodist
- Oxford St Primitive Methodist
- Zion Primitive Methodist

Wrong “Branch Road”, Montague Street was originally known as Branch Road.
