Oldham North Moor Primitive Methodist chapel

For a while the North Moor (Oldham) Primitive Methodist society met in a cellar, which they used for worship, a Sunday school and a night school.

In the Primitive Methodist magazine of 1868 we are told by Thomas Bennett that they had just bought for £200 the Mechanics Institute and equipped that as a chapel.

  • My parents were married in this church in 1947 , I went to Sunday School until 1960 when we left the area, so many good people attended this church over the years. My godfather Tom Gillespie was the scout troop leader and a great influence on my late father. My mother was in the girl guides and formed many life long friendships all through tis church.
