Editor’s note [CH]: In the 1837 Primitive Methodist magazine (page 237), William Wombell tells us that Holton le clay Primitive Methodist chapel opened on Sunday and Monday 14th and 15th August 1836. Preachers were Mr J Butcher and Rev S Martin, a Baptist minister.
Mr W Sharp gave the land and seven people helped in building the chapel; grateful thanks were due.
