Lincs to the past website tells us that the first Primitive Methodist chapel was built on Crosby Road and opened in 1870. It was replaced by the High Street chapel which opened in 1891. In the interim, the congregation worshipped at the 1861 Wesleyan Trinity Methodist chapel also in the High Street.
Further detail comes from a note in the Primitive Methodist magazine.. With a growing need for bigger accommodation, when the interior of the Crosby Road chapel was damaged by fire in October 1889 they obtained an eligible site on High Street and built bigger. The memorial stones were laid in July 1890. In the interim, the congregation worshipped at the 1861 Wesleyan Trinity Methodist chapel also in the High Street.
The High Street chapel closed in 1935.
Scunthorpe High Street was in the Winterton circuit.
